IMPORTANT DOWNGRADE NOTE For 2.01 or above firmware version: Do not downgrade your 2.01 (or higher) software using the 2.0 or below firmware. This will corrupt your system as the 2.01 firmware upgrade package is different from 2.0 and below upgrade package. Please contact us at cs@imrsasia.com if you have any doubt.

1. Download Firmware

Go to https://www.imrsprime.com/support-firmware-upgrade/ download the latest Prime firmware. You have to download the firmware file to your local PC / Laptop first and then transfer to an external USB drive/disc and transfer to the iMRS Prime control panel (See step 2). Do read the respective instruction for any latest update. As the instruction online is not very complete, this supplementary guide offers further explanation to some of the steps.

1.1 Go to https://imrsprime.com/support-firmware-upgrade

1.2 Choose the latest firmware version

1.3 Choose a local directory on your computer to save the file. You can also save directly to the external USB drive. This is the file you need to copy to your external USB drive for the firmware upgrade. Proceed to section 2 for further instruction.

1.2 and 1.3 explains the key differences in firmware files differences for firmware 2.0 before and after. You may skip these sections.

1.2 Upgrading Firmware 2.0x and After

Starting with Firmware 2.00, there will be only one firmware file you need to download and install.

Go to Step 2 – Transferring Firmware to Prime System

DO NOT run this file on your Windows PC/Laptop. It might allow you to run the system but it will not be able to execute the file correctly and return with Provisioning failure message.

1.3 Upgrading Firmware 1.x and Before

There are usually 4 main files for the software update. When you download from the internet, usually it’s Packed in a .zip file. The total file size is about 800MB. Unzip the files into a root folder of a USB drive. In this article, we will use firmware and software interchangeably, as we are referring to the same thing here.

2. Transferring Firmware to Prime System

Copy the files from your PC/Lap to an external USB drive. Avoid having multiple versions of firmware on the USB drive. It is best to have a clean (empty) USB drive to minimize any complication.

Insert the USB drive into either Port 1 or 2 of the control panel. Go to setting menu (press the settings icon shown below)

Next press the System Information to go to system update screen

At the system update screen, press “Search for Update” button. This will get the system to check the files reside in your USB drive. Take note of the versions listed on the right side of the display.

Next, start the system update by pressing the “Update Starten” button. The system will copy the firmware and start the updating process. The entire process may take up to 15 minutes. The System will reboot once, and you will see the system boot into a command-line prompt (like the one shown below). This system may look like a freeze for several minutes. Don’t do anything. Just wait for 15-20 minutes, and the system will automatically boot into the normal start screen. There is nothing else you need to do to complete the upgrade process.

IMPORTANT: DO NOT TOUCH THE SCREEN OR POWER OFF DURING THE UPGRADE PROCESS AS THIS MAY CORRUPT THE SYSTEM!

The upgrade process will start copying new firmware files into the system…
After copying, the system will reboot into a command prompt… wait for 10-15 minutes for the upgrade to complete. For Firmware 2.x and above, you will no longer see the Command screen. The process will be much shorter – less than 5 minutes.

Starting from firmware version 1.59, you will need to key in the activation key given to you in order to activate the features that you have purchased. Please refer to the license key activation here: https://imrsasia.com/kb/activating-prime-license/

Additional Info

  • There is no requirement for you to upgrade the software version in sequential order. For instance, if your current software version is 1.53, and you wish to upgrade to 1.57, you can go straight to 1.57. You don’t have to upgrade 1.54, 1.55, 1.56 then 1.57 – unless it’s specifically mentioned in the new software version.
  • You can downgrade your software version to the previous version if your current software version is 2.00 or below. Although 2.01 and 2.00 features are similar, the firmware packaging of 2.01 and 2.00 is structured differently.
